The breath-taking Tyrolean mountain ranges, with their outstanding peaks, lushly forested slopes and gently alps all connected by a network of hiking trails which open up all of this to the devoted hiker. At lofty heights paragliders and hang-gliders can experience true freedom. Floating above the impressive mountain peaks however demands some skill. The equipment required can be rented out from one of the many flight schools all over the Tyrol. Classy boutiques line the Innsbruck road, Maria-Theresien-Straße. Tucked in between them you will find cosy cafés and restaurants, which will entice you away from shopping for a while with culinary delights. In the warmer seasons the re-designed pedestrian zone invites you to linger a while. In its centre you will find the shopping centre, Kaufhaus Tyrol, the most attractive and modern shopping centre in Europe. This title was awarded to the fully renovated traditional shopping centre in 2011 at the ICSC-European Conference in Paris.

A further highlight in the old town is the Swarovski store. The sparkling crystal world is a must on any shopping trip –  even if you just stop to enjoy the decoration and the special atmosphere in the shop.
